10/9/16: You Are On God’s Mind
We’ve all heard the phrase, “I’ve got a lot on my mind.” When people say that, they usually mean something is troubling them or the gauge in their life is nearing the overwhelming point. We might even have to get right in their face and snap our fingers just to get their attention. Folks with a lot on their minds don’t need another thing to have to think about.
Not so with our God. Psalm 115:12-13 reads, “The LORD has been mindful of us; he will bless us… He will bless those who fear the LORD, both small and great” (NKJ). The word “mindful” used here is translated from the Hebrew word “zakar (zaw-kar’)” which means “to mark so as to be recognized, to remember, to mention.” It is the same word used in Genesis 8:1 at the end of the great flood when “God remembered Noah.” The rain stopped and the waters began to dry up. It’s the same word used in Genesis 19:29 when God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah but “remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow.” Zakar is also the word used in Genesis 30:22 and I Samuel 1:19-20 when God remembered Rachel and Hannah and opened their wombs so they could conceive.
No matter what we’re facing, a flood of unexpected circumstances, a firestorm of other people’s issues, or a personal emptiness, we’re on God’s mind and He remembers us. It’s not overwhelming to Him to keep us on His mind and then to bless us.
Keep it on your mind today that you are on God’s mind. To be zakar-ed by God means we are recognized, remembered, and mentioned. (You do know that Jesus is constantly praying for you. See Romans 8:34.) And His remembrance is always accompanied by blessing. Thank God that you are on His mind; look for the blessing.
Mission Trip Update! Traveling tomorrow! The trip is here! Wow! Thank you to all who have helped financially making this trip possible. You are the best! Now keep up the support in prayer for us. I’m finishing my packing and preparing my sermons and talks. There are so many things to remember to take along: my passport, shots record, travel insurance paperwork, Visas, medication, etc. I’m trying to be careful to remember everything.
I also want to make an impact for the Kingdom. Please pray that I can communicate God’s Word clearly and effectively. Pray that my words are packed with the power of the Holy Spirit and will be effectual for the purpose of breaking strongholds, opening both physical and spiritual eyes, and softening the hearts of those who will come to know Jesus Christ for the first time. I also desire to be an encouragement to those who are already working in the Gospel ministry.
Stay tuned for more information as I experience Africa for the first time!
On the journey,
