11/6 Sing and Fly

I spent a few hours one Saturday morning at the South Coast Botanical Garden. While sitting among nature, I could hear the sounds of civilization outside the garden, but I couldn’t see their source. Cars were whizzing by and some type of electricity was buzzing, but the sources of those sounds couldn’t reach me.

God’s sounds were closer. There were birds chirping, little unseen animal feet rustling in the trees and bushes, squirrels and birds scampering about, on whatever missions that fill their days.

The birds especially moved busily about, finding the food God had left for them. As they went about caring for themselves, they sang, and their songs reached me. They flew and their flight enthralled me. They just did what God made them to do—sing and fly—and they effortlessly did so.

Matthew 6:26 says, “Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?” The point here is not to say we shouldn’t work; the point here is to look at how much God puts into caring for us since we’re even more precious to Him than are the birds. As less precious creatures, look at what the birds do. Sing and fly. Can I do any less with the use of my gifts? I think not.

One Response to “11/6 Sing and Fly”

  1. If I had the wings of a dove, just to take me where I want to go, I will fly to the upmost way out in to space…no, no, no, no, no, there is no hiding place!
