3/28: The Lord, He is God

Psalm 100 is a favorite of many people. In fact, many of us have it memorized. Once someone starts it off with the beginning words, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord all ye lands…” lots of us can continue and finish it. We can rattle it off, nodding our heads in agreement and smiling because the message is a joyous one that rings in our hearts.

However, when I read that Psalm this morning, the first words of verse 3 popped out at me in a particularly special way. It says, “Know ye that the Lord, He is God.” Further breaking down that portion, I found a spotlight shining on the word “He.” Read that sentence out loud and emphasize the word “He:” Know ye that the Lord, He is God.

This may sound silly, but I’m really thankful that God is God. If the universe were different, I could have been created by some evil being, void of attributes such as love, grace, mercy, and patience – all of which I need from my creator on a daily basis. I’m glad today that God, the loving, gracious, merciful, and patient God, is the God who created me and is the God I am privileged to serve.

It is my prayer for you today that you rejoice to know that the Lord, He is God.
