Week 34, Day 3: Approaching God

Write, journal, or talk to God about your heart’s response to the passages upon which you meditated yesterday.

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJ) – But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

  • What is necessary to please God?
  • What must we believe in order to come to God?
  • What will God do for those who diligently seek Him?
  • What is your heart’s response to the answers you gave above?

Psalm 73:28 (NKJ) – But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all Your works.

  • Do you feel you have truly put your trust in the Lord? Why did you answer the way you did?
  • When was the last time you declared God’s works to someone else?

Isaiah 55:3 (NIV) – Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David.

  • When was the last time you “heard” God?
  • Are you in the habit of truly listening to what God has to say about the tough issues of your life?

John 14:6 (NKJ) – Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

  • How has Jesus demonstrated Himself as “the way” in your life?
  • Do you actually hold Jesus up as “the truth” in your life? Recall an example.
  • Do you follow Jesus as if He really is “the life”? Recall an example.

Hebrews 7:24-25 (NIV) – Because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.

  • Do you approach God through Jesus Christ?
  • How does it make you feel to know that Jesus is praying for you?

Prayer of Thanksgiving: Thank You God for not only allowing me to approach You, but for giving blessing and encouragement when I do so.
