Week 15, Day 2: Worth Passing On

Read and meditate upon how these verses relate to the news of who God is that is worth passing on.

  • And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word. IKing 18:21(NKJ)
  • I am the LORD, that is My name; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to graven images. Isaiah 42:8 (NKJ)
  • This is what the LORD says–Israel’s King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God. Who then is like me? Let him proclaim it. Let him declare and lay out before me what has happened since I established my ancient people, and what is yet to come– yes, let him foretell what will come. Do not tremble, do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one.” Isaiah 44:6-8 (NIV)
  • These are the statutes and judgments which you shall be careful to observe in the land which the LORD God of your fathers is giving you to possess, all the days that you live on the earth. You shall utterly destroy all the places where the nations which you shall dispossess served their gods, on the high mountains and on the hills and under every green tree. And you shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and burn their wooden images with fire; you shall cut down the carved images of their gods and destroy their names from that place. You shall not worship the LORD your God with such things… You shall not worship the LORD your God in that way; for every abomination to the LORD which He hates they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods. Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it. Deuteronomy 12:1-4, 31-32 (NKJ)
  • And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was. John 17:3-5 (NKJ)
  • For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2:5 (NKJ)

Prayer of Confession: Lord, at times I place other “gods” in front of You (self, money, children, time, possessions, ambition, etc.). Before I slip away into the worship of these other gods, catch the attention of my heart so You remain my focus.
