Week 10, Day 2 – Sent to be Spent

Week 10 – Day 2 – Sent to be Spent

Read and meditate upon how these verses relate to being sent to be spent.

  • John 20:19-21  Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” Now when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” (NKJ)
  • Isaiah 61:1-3  The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; he has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified. (NKJ)
  • Matthew 10:16  Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. (NKJ)
  • Matthew 28:18-20  And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen. (NKJ)
  • John 17:18-21  As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth. I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. (NKJ)
  • Acts 1:8  But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me inJerusalem, and in allJudeaandSamaria, and to the end of the earth. (NKJ)

Prayer of Confession: Dear God, I confess my reluctance to go when and where You send me, and my lack of enthusiasm about saying what You need for me to say. Please forgive me.
