God Likes Us

We hear all the time that God loves us. John 3:16 is probably the most popular verse in the Bible and it talks about God’s love. In fact, in I John 4:8, we even find out that God Himself is love. “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”

But I cannot recall ever being told that God likes us. How could He? After all, we’re wretched sinners. It’s God’s grace that allows Him to love us, and grace is necessary because we do not and cannot deserve His love. The very definition of grace is “undeserved favor,” so we kinda carry around the idea that love is detached from who we are personally. God is working on us, bringing us to perfection, so He’ll only be totally okay with us when we reach Glory.

Today’s passage for concentration changed this view for me. Psalm 37:23-24 says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand.” Wow, God delights in us even if we flub up from time to time. God likes us!

Rejoice that God not only loves you, but He actually likes you too. Show Him that you like Him too. Spend some extra time just hanging out with your Friend today.

One Response to “God Likes Us”

  1. In the Genesis account we are told that God created us in His image in His likeness He created man. God gave human beings free will to choose to obey Him or not and an intellect that He did not attempt to directly control. God wanted man to be creative and to do good works that He had prepared for man to do prior to the beginning of time. When we choose to willfully disobey God we are really stating to God: I do not love you. Rejecting the Creator, the source of your life and the only way to eternal life is extremely arrogant-the most disrespectful act that anyone can ever commit.
